A major exhibition, Tennis: Work and Play, is planned from June to November. It covers Bath’s rich history of racket games, from Real Tennis in the 18th century, through early lawn tennis of the 1880s, the growing popularity of the game in the inter-war years among all ages and social groups, through to the University’s Team Bath contribution in the 1980s. It will tell the hidden histories of women’s participation, of Workers’ Wimbledon, of changing costumes and the local manufacture of tennis balls. There will be many opportunities to volunteer in activities inside and outside the museum. More details in the newsletters and here as plans develop.

The Building and home to the Museum collection was constructed as a real Tennis court. Timeline and history can be viewed here
